Vega Primer Application

GENERAL

A colorless, transparent primer applicable in many ways for subsequent coatings and thin layers of plasters and paints.

APPLICATION

Suitable for application on all untreated surfaces like clay plasters, lime plasters, lime based cement plasters and gypsum plasters, drywall, stone, and concrete. Not suitable for non-absorbent surfaces and permanently humid surfaces.
Prior to application on your surface, the suitability of this product should be tested on a small, inconspicuous area.

SUITABLE TOOLS

Suitable tools are quality brushes made out of natural bristles.

PREPARATIONS

The surface must be untreated and absorbent, clean, dry, solid, free of grease and free of striking through or coloring substances.

  • Remove old glue-bound distemper coatings (including Unearthed Plant Glue Paint) and other chalking or non-coat-able coatings. Thoroughly wash off glue residues.
  • Dust surfaces thoroughly.
  • Check old coatings for good adhesion, remove if necessary.
  • Remove accumulations of binder and sintered skin from plaster surfaces. Etch fresh plasters containing lime.
  • Remove residues of molding oil on concrete surfaces.
  • Remove loose parts of rabbets and brickwork and repair with similar material.
  • Remove any fungus.

MIXING VEGA PRIMER

Mix Vega Primer in a bucket (at least 2.5gal) with an electric drill with a paint stirrer attachment. Stir the Vega Primer (250g pouch) little by little into 2 quarts of clean, cold water. Ensure that all clots are stirred out properly. After an expanding time of approx. 30 minutes, stir again thoroughly and dilute with 6.5 quarts of water.

USAGE

Apply Vega Primer evenly and generously. Do not spray the Vega Primer or apply with a roller. Apply only the amount of fluid that can be absorbed by the surface. Room temperature during application must be at least 47°F. Use up mixed Vega Primer in one day.

DRYING TIMES

Drying times will vary with temperature and humidity. Dry and safe to coat with Vega products after 8 hours at 68°C and 65% relative humidity.

YIELD

According to the absorbency of the surface: 250g of powder cover approx. 450 to 650ft².
Accurate consumption values to be determined on site.

STORAGE

The powder can be kept at least 2 years if stored dry.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean tools immediately after use with water or with slightly soapy water.

DISPOSAL OF UNUSED PRIMER

Do not dispose of residues in the sewage system. Unused primer can be disposed of with normal household litter when dried, in accordance with all laws and regulations. Please recycle empty containers.
