Gecko Paint - 1 gallon
Similar to the tropical lizard it is named after, Gecko Paint's distinctive feature is its ability to cling to almost any smooth surface. Gecko Paint is based on a mixture of waterglasses, commonly referred to as "liquid glass." If exposed to air, it takes carbon dioxide out of the air and literally petrifies onto the surface you applied it to. The specialty of Unearthed Gecko versus any other purely mineral paint is that it can stick to nearly any surface- even glazed tile- thanks to the special mixture of a variety of waterglasses. No other natural paint is as universal, durable and strong as Gecko.
So how does it work? In essence, the binder in Gecko Paint is such a flexible material, that it flows into every little crevice and forms around every unevenness, no matter how small of the surface you paint it on. It develops such a huge contact area that physical adhesion forces bind the materials together permanently. With the same harmonious earth and mineral pigment color palette available as the Vega and Lime Paint collections, with the versatility to mix pigment colors to create a hue uniquely yours. Gecko Paint can be used on a wide variety of interior applications, including kitchen and bathroom, creating a dramatic twist to surfaces.

*Please note that there may be some color inaccuracies due to variations in computer screens. The best way to get an accurate color representation is to buy a sample size of the actual paint color you are considering. You can also contact us for free printed color palettes and hand-painted swatches.
Coverage:
Typical coverage for one gallon is 330 square feet, per coat. (Coverage will vary depending on surface.) If you are painting over a light surface, one coat of Gecko is generally sufficient. Painting over dark surfaces will usually require two coats.
How to use:
Ships as a white liquid in 1 gallon buckets. Simply stir slightly before application, as minor separation is natural. If you want tinted paint, just mix in the pre-measured powdered pigment packet (included with your tinted paint order) after dissolving it in Gecko Thinner. Mix with a paint stirrer attachment for an electric drill or a handheld kitchen mixer. *Please note that if you wish to use tinted Gecko paint, you must also purchase Gecko Thinner, which is used to dissolve the earth and mineral pigments in before mixing into the white base. For most applications, you will also want to thin the paint a bit too, so we highly recommend that you purchase a bottle of Gecko Thinner even if using white Gecko. Can be applied with a brush or roller.
Wet Gecko Paint is several shades darker than the finished dry paint. Gecko paint will appear blotchy as it dries, but
will even out as it dries.
